AI, Digital. Self portrait.
This piece is in part a self portrait, based upon the layers of experience--both traumatic and triumphant--that make up who we are as people. It uses Artifical Intelligence, acrylic paint skins, and many transparent layers of glowing, digital hand-painting to achieve the final result. As with all my portraiture, about 7 percent of my face is trained into the character represented here.
Claire is one of the most prominent AI artists. She says AI is the last invention we will ever have to make--it can solve the great afflictions that have plagued us since our dawning years, and it can create whatever we need to grow, moving forward. The quest for true AI is humanity's grail, and we are both its maker and its keeper. The question we must ask every step of our hero's journey toward this new reality is simple: "Whom does the Grail serve?"
